BOOKS ABOUT THE VIETNAM WAR
BOOK LIST

These books listed below are recommended for historical reference.

The Vietnam War was a very complex and political war.
There are a lot of myths and falsehoods about the United States involvement in Southeast Asia.
If you are interested in the truth and the facts about the Vietnam War then you must gather the facts before you make any assumptions.
The books below are a partial list that will help you. It is important to understand what brought us into the war, who were the combatants, and the overall political arena.

Primer of the Helicopter War by Charles Holley & Mike Sloniker

From the publisher:

Unlike other history books written about the Vietnam War, this book was written with
helicopters and their crews as the main focus . . . and, it was written by helicopter pilots.
Charles Holley flew scout helicopters in Vietnam and is the author of the
highly acclaimed Bantam War Series book, Aero scouts. Mike Sloniker flew slicks and is
widely-known as a Vietnam War historian. Together they have put together a
highly-informative book, filled with first person accounts and photographs, that has no
equal. The chapters in the book follow the events of the Vietnam war chronologically, and
include the roles played by helicopters in each of the major battles. If you crewed a
helicopter in Vietnam, this book is a must have!

Glenna Whitley,J.G. Burkett's book, "Stolen Valor" ISBN: 096670360X

Hard-cover - 692 pages 495 edition (August 1998) Verity Press Publication

Stolen Valor, an important new book that exposes this imagery as a poisonous lie.
The authors have gathered definitive statistics to show that Vietnam veterans are
actually more successful and well adjusted than other Americans of
comparable age -- with lower rates of addiction, alcoholism,
unemployment or homelessness than the national average. There is no
substance whatever to the endlessly repeated canard that more former
servicemen killed themselves after the war than ever died in Southeast
Asian combat: suicide rates are no different for Vietnam vets than for
corresponding non-veterans. This is book a MUST read.
